Geocaching With a View

Today's excursion was down in the Edmonds area.
The first cache was above the Library!

Look at the view from this cache area!

JR_SPYDER_CACHER FOUND HER FIRST CACHE!!!!

Taking a break on the way back to the car. The GPS said we walked over 3.5 miles today.

Here is the path we walked, compliments of our GPS and Google Earth.

Geocaching in the Hood

We decided to head out for a walk tonight, which led to a Geocaching adventure in the neighborhood.

PINK_SYPDER_CACHER discovered the first one.

SPYDER_CACHER_DUDE was the one who went in for the cache though.

Everyone was happy with the treasures they found.

Our second cache was a little bit of an adventure to find, there was a walk into a little forest, that led to a downed tree to walk on, which led to a stump with the cache.

SPYDER_CACHER_DUDE was happy with his little treasure in this cache too.

One of the things we enjoy about Geocaching is that it not only gets us out and about, but we discover new areas that we would not normally go to. For example we discovered a really neat, older neighborhood just in our area that we didn't know about tonight. It's a good way to discover the different areas out there.

Caching with Friends

Somehow last year slipped by with no Geocaching excursions, so we are making a point of getting out this year and started by inviting the Sanders family to join us. I took a better posed picture of the group, but it turned out blurry. So bummed.

This was their first experience with Geocaching and are getting a feel for it. I think they enjoyed the little excursion out and about our local area.

A treasure we didn't expect to see with this nest. We left it alone in case the mamma would come back, but we weren't so sure the nest wasn't abandoned.

Climbing Japanese Maples was something that turned out to add to the fun. This was a cache that JR_SPYDER_CACHER was particularly interested in because in the hint it said to have fun climbing the Japanese Maple. We didn't find the Geocache at this location.

Last summer SPYDER_CACHER_DUDE climbed the neighbors tree and slid down it scraping up his rib cage. So, when he was climbing this tree he said, "And I said I was never going to climb a tree again!!!" I guess a good tree is just too tempting.

This jumbo rock was a little unexpected out in a flat area near the old Martha Lake Airport. The kids, particularly our friend's kids, enjoyed a nice rock climb up to the top and back down.

Up she goes.

Hunting down the "Cop Shop Cache" which was called that because it was behind the police department.

The kids explore the goodies inside the cache.

BLONDE_SPYDER_CACHER found her 1st cache.

The fun with Geocaching is that we get a little side tracked here and there, and the kids enjoyed walking through and playing in the the creek.

PINK_SYPDER_CACHER and L.

SPYDER_CACHER_DUDE was probably wishing he wore shorts.

JR_SPYDER_CACHER had a fun time. It's rare that she'll enjoys getting her picture taken so I appreciate every picture opportunity I get of her!!!!

SPYDER_CACHER

SPYDER_CACHER_DUDE and M did a good job keeping their pants dry.

M is so sweet!

This was a micro cache.

L found this one!

I love this picture!

This was a creative cache!

We weren't sure if we were going to find this one, but alas PINK_SYPDER_CACHER figured it out.

It's another micro cache!

JR_SPYDER_CACHER was hoping to discover her first cache. Maybe next time. She really wasn't as sad as she looks, but I thought I would take the picture anyway... she was just disappointed.

A little playtime before we ended the day.
